India won the toss and elected to bat first at WACA which turned out to be a good dicision when india scored massive 309 runs in first innings. Facing brand new ball on aussie tracks always has been problem for sub-continent players. India this time did better as they lost only one wicket of Shikhar Dhawan in first ten overs. Apart from him indian Batsman did very well.
with the downfall of first wicket Virat Kohli joined Rohit Sharma to bat against inexperienced Aussie Bowling Attack consisting of Paris and Boland. Right from the start they never looked back and posted massive 207 Runs stand between them. Rohit sharma smashed brisking 171* breaking Sir viv Richards record of highest runs against Australia in Australia.
Virat Kohli played his part very well as well. He Scored 91 missing his yet another ODI ton by just nine runs. He has nice understanding with Rohit sharma which helped them to grow 207 partnership among them. Indian skipper MS Dhoni promoted himself to number four. He played Cameo of 18 Runs before getting caught at midwicket.
As we already know Australia's bowling attack wasn't experienced in fact they were playing first time at this level, There shyness were shown by their performance with the ball. They conceded runs at runner ball rate thats why Indians managed to Post massive 300 Runs on the Board.
Australia in reply wasn't as good as they are known for. In home conditions their openers Aaron Finch and David Warner both are known to attack right from the start. But this time around The debutant Barinder Sran was too hot for them to handle. He took the wickets of both Warner and Finch in first power play putting Steve smith and George Bailey in a lot of pressure. George Bailey who score brilliant 100 was given not out in 5th over even after edging the ball into MS dhoni's glove which caused Indians 112 Runs and massive partnership of 242 along with Steve Smith.
Steve Smith Score 149 runs getting out in last of Over of the match and missing his 150 only by one run. He batted very well along with george Bailay to put 242 Stand. They both were very much under pressure right from the start when both went back within first few overs. Starting from their they did very well to steal this game for their Team.
Indian Bowling on the other hand was kind of ordinary. Apart from Barinder Sran no one was able impress neither the captain nor the fans. Sran bowled really well, he took a couple to early wicket to put Australia on the back foot. He was kind of brilliant in terms of Pace and line & length. Only thing that he was lacking was support from the other end. If he was given support from the other end the result could have been whole different. Indian Spinners were not bowling that well which allowed Bailey and Smith to free their arms and score some runs. The specialist spinners R Ashwin and R Jadeja conceded 129 runs in 18 runs.
Indian Captain in press conference indirectly blamed spinner the the defeat. He said Spinners should have bowled better. which is right but the seamers also should have bowled better.
